I have my Mum's
voice in my head whenever I'm embarking on a new decorating adventure. She says
to always remain classic and add touches of detail to make things interesting. A splash of colour goes a long way to turn dull into delightful!
A beige couch can be... well… a little beige. Throw on some brightly patterned scatter
cushions and hey presto, a whole new look to give the beige a little
personality. Add a gorgeous red industrial floor lamp and you've got an
eclectic look that can easily be changed up if or when you get bored of it.
Perhaps the most
wonderful thing about decorating in this way is that once you've made the
initial investment in those big scary expensive things like couches or dining
room tables, the colourful accessories and statement pieces can be scavenged from
everywhere and any where. Markets, opps shops, swop shops with friends, street vendors,
your grannies attic, chain stores… the possibilities are endless for adding colour to your world!
